Last month, Graeme Alfille Cook was invited to sit in on a discussion alongside a number of other leading property professionals.
Amongst the discussions on the development and lending market, was how the Apex model can be effective in the current property landscape.
Developers and brokers who were also in attendance to offer their opinions and experiences in the current market, included Simon Knowles, head of property development at Aldermore; Zuhair Mirza, principal at Avamore Capital; Nicole Bremner, director at East Eight; Adele Turton, director at Sirius Property Finance; and Matthew Cleave, director of structured finance at Arc & Co.
Ranjeev Kumar, partner at Watson Farley & Williams, also gave a legal perspective on amending and restructuring facility agreements as a result of cost overruns and delays.
The conversation delved deeper into the issues managing long sales periods and the rise of developer exit products in recent years, increasing costs, including planning issues and the types of schemes that are now less viable to fund.
